About

MollieSimonDuring a session pondering the future and wrestling with what I want to do in life, one of my professors once referred to my interests as eclectic. That word has stuck with me.

Fueled by a combination of bread and chocolate, I have spent my time pursuing a range of interests, from diving into microfilm to study obituaries to baking and writing about food to filing public records requests.

The thread that unites my interests and experiences is a love of storytelling and research. Whether I am breaking news of a multimillion development or ending a convicted felon’s bid for state office with my reporting, I care about facts, accuracy and digging up information from the nooks and crannies of the world that can get lost and forgotten. Nothing gets my synapses firing like locating a telling newspaper clipping or finding the document that fits into a puzzle I have spent weeks piecing together.

In addition to my parent’s fridge, my byline has appeared in USA Today, The Greenville News, Anderson Independent Mail, Atlanta Business ChronicleThe Red & Black at the University of Georgia, The Atlanta Journal-ConstitutionYahoo! Food and the sites for NPR, Voice of America, Poynter and Spoon University.
